Copa Lures by Steve Coggin
Famous for their meticulous shellwork, and knack for getting bit, Copa lures are an example of Hawaiian luremaking at its pinnacle. Early on, a young Steve Coggin was befriended by Honolulu dentist, Dr. Young Park. Dr. Park, an avid angler and skilled luremaker himself, took Steve under his wing, sharing the expertise he had garnished after years of fishing and lure making. In addition to pouring lures and shaping new designs, the two spent countless days offshore in pursuit of gamefish. Nearly thirty years later, Copa lures have evolved into one of the sports most respected range of offshore lures. Baby Peanut:
The Baby Peanut is a micro pusher style lure. At all of 4.5" in length, this is an ultra-light tackle sized lure. Don't let the small size fool you ... these little buggers catch fish. Baby Peanuts will cycle just like their bigger cousins. They will swim below the surface, then come up with a pop & splash, only to dive again. Great for Mahi Mahi and small Tunas. Peanut Stick:
The Peanut Stick is an elongated pusher type lure with a smooth deliberate swimming motion, inherent to "stick" type baits. The Peanut Stick's lazy action just asks gamefish to strike. Peanut Stick Bullet:
A traditional Hawaiian bullet shaped tuna lure with a twist. By elongating the head of this lure, Steve has accomplished two things. First, the extra length allows more weight to be inserted into the lure, thus making it heavier than a traditional bullet type lure of comparable size. Second, an elongated head shape has a stabilizing effect on a lure's swimming action, making it a good choice for rough or windy conditions. Please specify color choice for skirts when ordering.

Small Slant:
The Small Slant series is one of Copa's top sellers. Available with either a 45 degree nose, or an inverted nose. Both are made with four jet holes. Though both are top producers, the inverted version is the most popular. In fact, Capt. Norm Isaacs, of ESPN fame, has an article on his website about the invert. He calls it "Mr. Dependable" because of its knack for getting bit. The small slant invert is one of those "No Brainer" lures. It works trolled fast, or slow, short, or deep, in calm water, or rough water. The 45 degree version takes a bit more skill to master, but is really a forgiving design as well. Maui Plunger:
A large active lure who's broad sides produce lots of flash. The Maui Plunger is one of Copa's largest offerings, definitely not a light tackle lure. Tado:
The original Tado lure by Coggin. The name of this lure was derived from the word "Otado", which is what Hawaiian fishermen call Skipjack Tuna of over ten pounds. Top skippers know that when the Otado show up, big Marlin are close behind. At 17" in length, this lure replicates the favorite food of these big fish. Made with a scoop nose and four jet holes, the Tado creates a massive splash at the surface then dives with a tremendous bubble trail. Run it and watch out for large visitors in your wake. Ho #7 Conventional:
A look back to the formative years of Hawaiian lure making. Designed in the 1960's, the Conventional is a traditional "swimmer" type lure. Dubbed "Conventional" because in the early days, it was standard issue on several Hawaii big game boats. Countless Marlin, Tuna, and Mahi Mahi were caught from traditional Hawaiian Sampans fishing this lure. Today, anglers fishing from modern day game boats still sing its praise. With a scoop nose and offset internal tubing, this is an active lure with a deliberate side to side action. Great for drawing fish into your pattern. Give it a try; you will be glad you did.

Ho Big Blue & Baby Blue:
The original Big Blue Jet Head lure. At last count, four or five lure makers have tried to copy this top producer. While this may be the ultimate testimony to the Big Blue's prowess, why own a copy when you can have the original. Bullet shaped and heavily weighted, the Big Blue runs smooth and deep in your pattern. Four large jet holes produce a bubble stream and harmonics that get fish's attention. Many top skippers have found that having one straight tracking lure in a pattern of highly active lures seems to draw the attention of those fish that may otherwise be just lookers instead of strikers ... well, this is that lure. From Grander Kona Marlin to 250lb Azorian Bigeye, this lure has done it. Rough water, calm water, high speed, low speed, it makes no difference ... the Big Blue works. After years of success with the Big Blue, several anglers asked for a smaller version. In answer to customers requests, Ho Lures came out with the Baby Blue. Same all weather ability, same fish attracting knack as its big brother. Try either in your pattern, you owe it to yourself. Please specify color when ordering.

Abrey:
Out from the past, from the wild and wooly developmental years of Hawaiian lure making comes the Abrey. Originally developed by longtime lure designer and Honolulu Cannery machinist John Abreau, the original Abrey molds were entrusted to Ho Lures after John's passing. A large, scoop nosed, highly active lure, the Abrey is not for the faint of heart (A version of this lure is responsible for the largest Blue Marlin ever caught on rod and reel - the fish weighed 1,805lbs., and was taken June 10, 1970 off Oahu, Hawaii. The anglers were aboard the charter boat Coreen C, skippered by long time Hawaiian Captain Cornelius Choy). Made to look like an injured Aku, the Abrey splashes on top, then dives down, trailing a huge bubble stream. It then makes for the surface to repeat the cycle again. A deadly lure for working bait schools or known concentrations of fish. Skirted the traditional way with hand cut naugahyde. Own a piece of history.

Ahi Koa:
Native Hawaiian fishermen refer to historically productive tuna grounds as "Ahi Koa". These "Koa" are natural points of aggregation where tuna have gathered for thousands of years. The location of these spots have, in many cases, been handed down through generations of artisan fisherman. In honor of these traditions, we have named this lure the Ahi Koa. The lure has an elongated head with beautiful shell inserts, an inverted nose for surface commotion, and four jet holes which create a glimmering bubble trail. The Ahi Koa will have fish aggregating behind your boat! Please specify color choice when ordering.

Chrome headed trolling lures have long been favorites of commercial "Jig" boats and charter operations. In addition to being durable & inexpensive, chrome headed trolling lures have a reputation for being quite productive as well. Sumo Tackle has some great offerings in this style of lure. With quality machine work & lustrous chrome plating, Sumo Lures are fast developing quite a following of satisfied anglers. Sumo M10 Mini Jets :
With a concave nose & five jet holes, M10 Mini Jets pop and smoke like a lure twice their size. It is this concave nose shape that is key to the M10 Mini Jets ability to stay in the water and continue to run effectively even in windy or rough conditions. In addition, contrary to popular belief, they will handle higher trolling speeds than a comparably sized bullet shaped lure. The head is machined from solid brass and chrome plated to a high luster, it is then finished up with durable vinyl outer skirts and holographic mylar inner skirts.
