Genzo Tools
Genzo G-Tool :
Don't use diagonal pliers or side cutters to cut multistrand cable. The cutting action of these tools will unravel cable, making it difficult to work with. Working with cable requires a special tool that cuts clean without crushing and deforming the cable end. A clean cut allows the cable end to pass neatly through snug fitting sleeves. The Genzo G-Tool is one of the best we've found. Cuts multistrand cable to 800lb as well as single strand wire and monofilament.

Brass Fishing Scales:
One of the most overlooked things to do when preparing gear for an offshore trip is the proper setting of reel drags. Do not set your drag by simply pulling line off the reel with your hand and guessing that it “feels about right”. To do it properly, use a quality scale such as the Manley Brass Fishing Scale. Made of corrosion resistant brass with a stainless internal spring, these scales will last many seasons if maintained well. Available in three sizes 25lb, 50lb, and 50lb with tell-tale bar and pointer. Kilogram equivalent increments are also stamped on the scale. Also can be used to weigh your prized catch (though then the real weight would be known). These scales can be certified (for record consideration) by a qualified agency, such as the IGFA.

Maintenance tip: After each use, be sure to rinse your scale with fresh water then apply a water dispersant such as WD-40 or silicone spray. This will help to protect your scale from corrosion and ensure that you will receive years of trouble free service.
