Shell Squid are used in the construction of spreader bars and daisy chain rigs. Long popular with tuna anglers in the Northeast United States, spreader bars & daisy chains have a knack for getting fish to bite when a single trolled bait sometimes will not. The proven success of these rigs has anglers worldwide singing their praise.
Lure Baits International Shell Squid are durable and come in a nice selection of colors and sizes. Malolo Blue Water Tackle currently stocks these shell squid in sizes from 5.25” to 11.75” (sizes to 18” are available on a special order basis). As we move forward, we will be adding additional sizes and colors.
When ordering, please specify both size and color choices. For example, if you want color #201 in a 11.75” length, you would order SQ11-201. Bulk pricing available, please inquire. |

Made by Yamashita, the manufacturer of the popular "Golden Bait" line of Octopus skirts, Ikanago skirts have a different shape than Octopus type skirts. They are more elongated with a pencil shape. This shape is similar to the tiny baits that small tuna and mackerel sometimes feed on. We all know how tough it is to get fish to bite when they are focused (feeding) on small forage. Larger lures won't cut it. Ikanago skirts are the perfect baits for these situations. Rigged with a small sliding sinker inside and a single small hook, Ikanago skirts are great for catching small live baits such as skipjack, yellowfin, or mackerel. Ikanago Skirts are also ideal for bottom rigs. Try them for flounder, small snapper, or rockfish.
Malolo Blue Water Tackle currently stocks
these skirts in Yamashita sizes 1.5, 2.0 and 3.5.
When ordering, please specify size and color.
Example - a 1.75" skirt in color Yako would be ordered as Ikanago 1.5-Yako. |

| Rigging Tip - Try rigging Ikanago skirts as a daisy chain with a small hooked lure as a chase bait. |

Hawaii is generally accepted as the birthplace
of the resin-made big game trolling lure. For around forty years,
Hawaiian lure makers have been perfecting this craft. Back when
it all began, lure makers would use feathers, nylon "grass" fibers,
and even material from shower curtains to dress their lure creations.
After much experimentation, it was found that the same Naugahyde
that was used to upholster your dad's '57 Chevy and '50s diners
was the hot ticket for big game lures as well. Flashy with lots
of sparkle and made in gaudy colors that fish can't resist, the
stuff is tough and resilient as well. In addition, it was later
discovered that the rough backside of Naugahyde seems to trap
air bubbles well and creates a terrific bubble stream behind
the lure. Because of these attributes, Naugahyde is still used
by some of Hawaii's, and the world's, top big game boats. MBWT
stocks genuine Naugahyde in nine different colors. Available
either pre-cut ready to go or in sheets for the do-it-yourselfer.
Please specify stock number and color code when ordering. |
