Although we do our best to keep these skirts in inventory, please inquire regarding color & size availability. All Lure Baits International skirts stocked by Malolo Blue Water Tackle are without eyes (skirts with eyes are available on a special order basis).

Yamashita Skirts
A longtime favorite and closely held secret of experienced Pacific Tuna fishermen. Yamashita's Golden Bait Octopus skirts are made using top grade Japanese made materials. The proven color choices and incredible suppleness of Yamashita skirts is legendary. Whether they are used for catching 1lb. Aku for live baiting or finicky 50lb Yellowfin, these are the skirts of choice for the small sized lures often used in today's fisheries.
Malolo Blue Water Tackle currently stocks these skirts in sizes 3", 4.25", 5.5", 6.5", 7.75" and 9.5". Yamashita Golden Bait skirts are sold with eyes only.
When ordering, please specify size and color. Example - a three inch skirt in color #1 would be ordered as Yama 2.5-1.

15Rigging Tip - The eyes on Yamashita skirts are luminous (glow in the dark). When fishing at first light or dusk, hold skirted lures under a flashlight or decklight for a short period of time before deploying. This will cause the eyes to glow, often times inducing vicious strikes during these magic hours.
Naugahyde Skirt Material
Hawaii is generally accepted as the birthplace of the resin-made big game trolling lure. For around forty years, Hawaiian lure makers have been perfecting this craft. Back when it all began, lure makers would use feathers, nylon "grass" fibers, and even material from shower curtains to dress their lure creations. After much experimentation, it was found that the same Naugahyde that was used to upholster your dad's '57 Chevy and '50s diners was the hot ticket for big game lures as well. Flashy with lots of sparkle and made in gaudy colors that fish can't resist, the stuff is tough and resilient as well. In addition, it was later discovered that the rough backside of Naugahyde seems to trap air bubbles well and creates a terrific bubble stream behind the lure. Because of these attributes, Naugahyde is still used by some of Hawaii's, and the world's, top big game boats. MBWT stocks genuine Naugahyde in nine different colors.
